PLANT A TREE at the Sumitomo Pavilion
Hello from the Sumitomo Pavilion!
Ever since deciding to exhibit at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, we’ve been exploring ways on how our pavilion could coexist with forests and trees.
This eventually brought us to the concept, " Sumitomo Pavilion beyond time and around again.”
The Sumitomo Pavilion has taken wood for construction from the “Besshi Forest” of Shikoku; a forest that Sumitomo has nurtured throughout the years and serves as the foundation of our group’s growth and development. We will plant new seedlings where the trees have been logged in our mission to create a forest that lives on into the future. Inside the pavilion, we will host a “tree planting event” where children of tomorrow can also play a part in this forestation.
The seedlings that meet by chance with our visitors will grow into a rich forest and live for decades and centuries across time and be passed on for generations. We look forward to having you join us in creating this forest that continues into the future.
What is a tree planting event?
This is an experiential program that allows visitors to learn about the importance of people‘s relationships with the forest as well as the cycles of the forest through experiences that connects people with the forest and discover the importance of thinking to the future.
The seedlings planted by participants will grow for decades and centuries as a part of the Sumitomo Forest, soon turning into a forest resource that enriches the future.
*Participants will receive an original memorabilia by the Sumitomo Pavilion
